Election Day is Tuesday, Nov 3, 2020. Just 25 days to participate in the most consequential election of a lifetime. At stake is our democracy as the current US President appears not to have regard for the laws, customs and courtesies of our republic.
What’s at Stake?
Health Care – Affordable Care Act -One week after the Presidential Elections, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on whether the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is constitutional, in whole or in part. The court is expected to rule on the matter before its term ends in June 2021.
Climate Change –According to NASA.Gov, the earth average surface temperature has risen about 2.05 degrees Fahrenheit a change driven largely by increased carbon dioxide and other human-made emissions into the atmosphere,
Supreme Court -The sudden passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg left an opening on the bench. The court is currently holding at 50-50 split between conservative and liberal idealogy. The vacancy opens up and opportunity to overturn Roe V. Wade or introdue narrower restrictions that would effectively eliminate access to the procedure for much of the country.
How to Vote?
Covd – 19 pandemic has made it difficult to do the most common of activities; dine out, go to the movies, workout at the gym. Voting is no exception. In an effort to ensure you can vote, The Commonwealth of PA and the City of Philadelphia have set up the following:
You still have to time to register to vote. The last day to register by by US mail, online or in person.The last day to register is Monday, October 19, 2020. If you are unsure of your voting status you can visit the Voter Registration Status website.
Philadelphia county is providing early voting satellite locations. Some may call it early voting, but really it’s another form of the mail-in ballot. There are 17 locations (including the Board of Elections offices at City Hall and Columbus Boulevard) that will allow voters to request a mail-in ballot, fill it out, and return it all in one visit.
Voting is a right and a priviledge! Don’t silence your voice!
The Restart Philadelphia Fund provides $25,000 – $250,000 of flexible financing to help small businesses meet the needs related to reopening after COVID-19. Small businesses can also utilize the financing to adapt business models to new conditions and opportunities as a result of COVID-19.
USE
Small businesses can now apply for flexible financing to fund working capital, inventory, technology upgrades, mobilization, re-hiring, and employee training.
ELIGIBILITY
Historically disadvantaged businesses (at least 50% of loans to be awarded)
Businesses located in high-poverty and/or low-moderate income communities.*
Small businesses with less than $5 million in annual revenue.

Kevin Hasset, White House Economic Advisor stated on Sunday, May 24, 2020 during an interview on CNN, “that unemployment rates could exceed 20% in the coming months as the country still suffers from the CoV2 pandemic.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, unemployment claims rose in every state and the District of Columbia. The agency is currently reporting a national unemployment rate of 14.7% based on April’s jobless rates. however the numbers published are expected to be higher due to data collection errors and misclassification.
Local impact. According to BLS.org, Pennylvania lost about about 130, 000 jobs in just one month as a response to Governor’s Wolf’s mandatory closing of non-essential workers. We are still awaiting a breakdown for Philadelphia and surrounding suburban counties numbers that will be published on June 3, 2020.
Future Outlook – Hasset’s anticipates a further increase, up to 20%, for May and June as Americans are still filing initial claims. He is hopeful that as nonessential businesses reopen that the unemployment rate will begin to decrease in July, but still anticipates double digit numbers through the 4Q 2020.

On February 22, 2020 Mike Bloomberg, Presidential Candidate opens four additional locations in Suburban Philadelphia. Bloomberg opened field offices in Media, Langhorne, West Chester, and Ardmore.
Hundreds showed up at the campaign office at 311 East Baltimore Pike, Media, PA to learn more about the Bloomberg campaign. Many in attendance, expressed their dismay of Joe Biden’s campaign performance. Many felt that Bernie Sanders message of socialism was not in their best interest and were disparately in need a champion to defeat the current resident of the White House.
Timothy L. O’Brien, Bloomberg’s Senior Advisor, was on hand to share Mike’s story, vision for the country and most importantly how Mike would give a better debate performance. O’Brien said “Mike debate performance was on the campaign…we take responsibility…we will do better.”
The purpose of the event is to give student participants a format to display and discuss issues that are most concerning to them. Then to utilize the scientific method to find a solution.
Students were evaluated on six factors: the development of their research question; design and methodology; data collection, analysis & interpretation; creativity; poster presentation; and oral presentation.
Eileen Gadsden, Founder E-Region Enterprises, met with several students in the fourth grade who projects were centered around environmental concerns such as oil spills, beach erosion and plant life. “I was totally impressed and encouraged by with students passion for their respective projects. They had a real understanding of the their problem statements which enabled the students to effectively document and defended their results.”

The students will be honored on Febraury 26th during an award ceremony for their great work. Upcoming event: Science Fair for secondary students will be held on March 11, 2020 at Temple University.
A few years ago, Eileen met Nick at a pitch meeting hosted by the ITEM,which provides low cost training and resources to new techies, career professionals and entrepreneurs.
Over the years, Eileen served as a mentor however in 2018 took on a more formal consulting role.

Eileen is current tasked with helping JumpButton Studio generate $500 million in revenue. “We are well on our way. The animation project for @ErynSantamoor as well as the @PhillyInquier article written by @TyLisa Johnson has increased our exposure in Philadelphia, Eileen Gadsden.
In addition to her work with JBS, Eileen is a #blockchain evangelist. Eileen has spoken from Philly to DC on the importance blockchain technology. Recently, Eileen has partnered with Jim Sullivan of Archisphere Technology to bring blockchain training/certification programs via Government Blockchain Association to the MidAtlantic Region.
